Today sees the launch of the Department of Transport’s Manx Grand Prix 2007 road safety campaign.
The campaign’s strap line will be “Love the MGP, Love Life, Take ITT Easy” which follows on from the successful Centenary TT road safety campaign.
Transport Minister, David Anderson MHK, hopes that visiting and local motorcycle enthusiasts will take note of the message and drive safely.
One of the most important messages the Department wants to get across is that unlike for the TT the mountain section will be two-way for the duration of the event. Hopefully, riders and vehicle drivers will drive sensibly, particularly on the mountain section, and the event will not be marred by head-on collisions around the course.
Spectators are also being reminded to refrain from entering prohibited areas, marked with little triangular warning signs, which are so marked in the interests of rider and spectator safety.
The road safety unit will also be out and about during the fortnight to help spread the message and their promotional vehicle’s first appearance will be at the beach cross at Port Erin this Friday.
