The Chief Secretary's Office has issued a public notice declaring that the period for public consultation, and the submission of views, has been extended from the latest closing date, of the 14th June 2007, to the 6th September 2007.

The Department of Local Government and the Environment had already re-advertised the application, for a 510,000 cubic metre landfill site, following the omission of Marown Parish Commissioners as a statutory consultee.

However, one of the involved parties, believed to be Patrick Commissioners, requested an extension of 6 months to properly prepare their submission.

Andrew Johnstone, Planning Appeals Administrator in the Chief Secretary's Office, said that legal advice had been taken and it had been decided to extend the date, for submissions, by 12 weeks.
