Chief Constable Mike Culverhouse responded quickly to the latest terrorist outrage in the United Kingdom, by authorising the patrolling, by armed police, of the Sea Terminal in Douglas and the Airport at Ronaldsway.

Speaking on Friday, following the attack on Glasgow Airport, Mr Culverhouse explained that whilst there was no specific intelligence warning of an impending threat, the Force was taking sensible precautions.

Apart from the presence of armed police, measures have been taken to keep vehicles away from the entrances, and drivers, at the airport, are being asked to use the car parks.

So far little there has been little disruption and inconvenience to the public and flights and sailings have been getting away as normal.

A spokesperson at the airport said that drivers were co-operating with the dropping-off restrictions and there had been no complaints to his knowledge about the measures.

Talks are apparently underway to decide whether the security level can be stepped-down any time soon.
